Global masterclass
At KG, you have the opportunity to participate in Global Masterclass, which is an offer to all students at the school to delve into a topic and go on a trip. The topics could be global citizenship, sustainability, or something else entirely, and the trips have widely varying destinations.
The trips and preparatory teaching take place once a year and involve students from all three programs. The purpose of the trips is to increase the sense of community among the students and between the programs at KG. It is a global offer available to students who are able and willing to participate, as it requires extra effort to attend classes in, for example, the 5th block and to raise money for the trip. A fixed number of places are available, and interested students must submit a letter of motivation.

Global Masterclass 2025
Tororo, Uganda. BEAUTY – Building East Uganda Tothe Youth
In the 2024/2025 school year, 18 students from Kolding Gymnasium (KG) across different educational programs became deeply committed ambassadors for the UN's Global Goals. This happened through a 10-day study trip to Tororo, where the students collaborated with volunteers from the local Ugandan NGO Hands of Hope (HoH).
In Tororo, there were a number of workshops in which the students participated. These included teaching at a local girls' school, visiting the Martin Mudodo health clinic, climate adaptation in the form of tree planting, visiting a local coffee plantation, visiting the source of the Nile, and much more.
The Global Masterclass concluded with a large-scale World Goals event at KG, where their knowledge was shared with others. The students have also visited elementary schools and will participate in the climate summit in Middelfart in 2025.
During the course, the students recorded a podcast in collaboration with Genfortalt Podcast, which you can find at the link below.
The BEAUTY project is jointly funded by Globus Puljen and Kolding Gymnasium.

Global Masterclass 2023
Central Europe
In the fall of 2023, the trip took them to Central Europe, where the students went on an exciting tour through Poland and the Czech Republic, with the Holocaust as the thematic starting point.
"It has happened, and therefore it can happen again."
As I stood there, in the midst of one of the darkest chapters in history, a wave of joy and gratitude washed over me. Having the opportunity to go on an unforgettable trip like this with friends and new acquaintances who quickly became friends is amazing and something everyone should experience.
“It was a wonderful trip and I hope everyone could have this experience.”
"An incredible and educational experience, but in many ways also disturbing for the future, given the hatred that still exists in the world."

“The trip was a cultural and historical experience; we saw and learned a lot about the horrible things that humans have done to each other.”
Global Masterclass 2022
The Camino – Sore feet and camaraderie
Global Masterclass 2022 went to the ancient Catholic pilgrimage route Camino de Santiago in northern Spain. Eighteen students from STX, IB, and HF and two teachers walked the 110 km from Sarria to Santiago de Compostela over five days.
Three students describe their experiences from the trip here:
"Buen Camino!" say all the people we meet. The coffee is steaming and the croissants and tortillas smell delicious from the many Camino cafés along the trail. With sore feet, we continue our hike towards Santiago.
At the hostel, we sleep soundly despite the mediocre beds and the sound of other hikers sleeping just as soundly, but despite the long hard days and semi-bad nights, the camaraderie was strong and the mood was mostly high. There was room for jokes and conversation across education, age, class, and even between teachers and students.
Santiago greets us with the chiming bells of the cathedral and bagpipe music. In Santiago de Compostela, the incense in the swinging Botafumeiro overpowers our smell of sweat. Fortunately, we are not the only ones.
