IB Retake

General information

We offer retakes in November and May to the students we can accommodate. Our own students are prioritised, but in exceptional cases we try to help students from other IB World Schools.

External candidates: To retake an IB exam at Kolding Gymnasium (KG) you will have to re-register and become a KG student. To do this we require written permission from your current IB coordinator. This can be sent by email to jsd@kolding-gym.dk. Please note we may not be able to accommodate you if your subject isn’t offered by KG.

All retake students must complete a contract and pay the fees associated with the retake before being entered for the exam.
Once paid, the fees is non-refundable, if you have a change of mind.
If you are a KG student and you pass the IB Diploma Programme, in your first retake session then we will refund the administration fee of 2500kr.
The administration fee will not be refunded in future retake exam sessions.
If you are retaking solely to improve a grade (s), even though you have passed, then the administration fee will not be refunded.

Compulsory contract and payment conditions for November retakes

Students will not be registered as full-time students or have the right to receive SU, unless otherwise agreed with the IB Coordinator.

IB exam registration fee’s and late fee’s (including administrative fee’s will)

- Exam Registration fee per subject – 700kr inc. banking fee (89 EUR) – Registration deadline: 25^th July 2025 for paperwork and payment
- Late fee per subject for May 25 exam students registering after 25^th July – 875kr inc. banking fee (113 EUR)

- Late fee per subject for May 24 (or earlier) exam students registering before 10^th July – 225kr inc. banking fee (28 EUR)
- Late fee per subject for May 24 (or earlier) exam students registering after 10^th July – 875kr inc. banking fee (113 EUR)

Administration fee (per retake session)

Administration fee 2500 kr: to cover costs for coordinating the exam process e.g. communication including mails and meetings, invigilator payments, organizing the exam schedule, access to Lectio/ Managebac, access to a textbook.

Books

All students are given access to books they can come and collect at the school, please note the books must also be returned to school.

Diploma certificate

If you pass the retake and the Diploma Programme but cannot collect the IB Diploma certificate yourself, then you will need to pay the courier cost of 150kr to have the certificate forwarded by registered post.

Information and optional support: November exams

Internal and externally assessed pre-exam work (e.g. IA’s, Explorations, HL Essays) cannot be improved and resubmitted during the November exams. (Only exceptional cases which must be agreed upon by the IB coordinator)
Teacher support: up to 3 hours of teacher support can be purchased at a rate of 400kr per hour if you want help with a structured revision plan or support in a certain subject area.

Please note: if you decide to split retake subjects over two sessions (i.e. November and May) then you must pay the administration fee twice.
